Over the past two weekends, SBS Fahrdienst Munich hosted its annual accident prevention seminar for our driving team. The seminar focused on essential topics that not only enhance the safety of our passengers but also strengthen our drivers’ sense of responsibility and awareness. Here’s a look into the key areas we covered:
Principles of Accident Prevention – Driving with Foresight
Road safety starts with attentive and anticipatory driving. Our drivers received training on how to recognize potential risks early and respond appropriately to avoid them. Emphasis was placed on respectful, considerate interactions with other road users and a defensive driving approach. The goal is simple yet vital: to prevent accidents before they happen—because prevention is the best protection.
Pre-Departure Vehicle Checks
A thorough inspection before every journey is essential. The seminar highlighted what to look for in daily vehicle checks—from lighting and tire pressure to the proper functioning of the brakes. Particular attention was paid to safety features in the passenger area, especially in wheelchair-accessible vehicles. Only a technically sound vehicle can ensure a safe ride.
Securing Wheelchair Users Correctly
Safely transporting passengers with limited mobility is a cornerstone of our work. Through hands-on practice, our drivers learned how to properly secure wheelchair users inside the vehicle. It’s not just about correct positioning, but also about using the appropriate harnesses and restraints. This way, we ensure that our passengers not only travel comfortably but also securely to their destination.

Accident Response and First Aid
Despite all preventive measures, drivers must be prepared for emergencies. The seminar included training on how to respond correctly in the event of an accident and how to perform life-saving first aid. Key points included securing the accident site, making emergency calls, and administering aid—particularly for unconscious individuals. Our drivers are now better equipped to act quickly and effectively when every second counts.
Vehicle Maintenance – Keeping Things Running Smoothly
A well-maintained vehicle reflects our commitment to professionalism and plays a crucial role in traffic safety. We covered regular vehicle care and basic maintenance tasks, such as changing lightbulbs to ensure optimal visibility, and checking and refilling vital fluids. From engine oil and coolant to antifreeze and AdBlue, our drivers now know exactly what to monitor. With a bit of routine, these checks can be done efficiently—ensuring our vehicles remain dependable and road-ready.
Alcohol, Drugs, and Medication
One of the seminar’s central themes was the impact of alcohol, drugs, and medication on driving ability. Our drivers were made aware of the dangers and legal consequences associated with such substances. Even seemingly harmless medications can impair alertness and reaction time. That’s why SBS Fahrdienst enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy—for the safety of everyone on the road.
Dialogue on Working Conditions and Responsibility
In addition to the safety-related content, the seminar also provided space for open discussion on important topics concerning our working environment. Our team engaged in thoughtful conversations about the desire for a collective wage agreement and the potential establishment of a works council—clear signs of strong employee engagement and a shared commitment to shaping our workplace together. Another key point was the introduction of extended background checks, especially relevant to the responsible care of vulnerable passengers. This initiative was met with great approval and underlines the high value SBS Fahrdienst places on responsibility and transparency.
We sincerely thank all our colleagues who dedicated their weekend to this meaningful exchange of ideas!
